However, the effects of climate variables are not consistent in published studies, which could be due to various local climatic conditions, socioeconomic status and demographic characteristics in different regions. We hypothesize that symptomatic and asymptomatic EV71 infection play important roles in the transmission of HFMD among children in the kindergarten setting. The protective efficacy of the three vaccines was also determined in one-day-old ICR mice born to immunized female mice.
